Jim Watkins, Chief Executive Officer
Sundia is led by Jim Watkins, an industry veteran and former President of Beringer Blass Wine Estates has over 30 years of experience in the consumer sector. He was also Chief Marketing Officer for Burger King and held senior positions at Colgate Palmolive and Dr Pepper/Seven-Up.
Dan Hoskins, Founder and General Manager
Widely regarded as a category professional as well as a start-up and growth expert, Hoskins brings to Sundia more than 15 years of experience in the food and beverage industry.
Hoskins was previously with Odwalla, Inc., where he led the sales and distribution organization that turned the regional brand into a preeminent, nationwide fresh juice brand and natural foods leader. In 1996, when tainted apple juice resulted in a massive product recall, his stellar crisis management skills enabled the company to regain profitability within three quarters and garnered him recognition among industry leaders and business schools throughout the country.
Hoskins food and beverage career began at the Pepsi Cola Company. Between Odwalla and Sundia, he spent a stint at Hello Direct, Inc. where he honed his skills in leading organizations through change, redefining roles and responsibilities, and establishing effective and efficient processes.
Hoskins holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from The University of California, Berkeley, where he was also a member of the Men's Varsity Swim and Crew teams. He is also a graduate of several prestigious executive development programs, including the Pepsi Cola Executive Management Institute and the Dale Carnegie Sales and Leadership Training Program.
Mark Sherburne, Vice President of Sales
Mark has extensive food industry experience with several US food companies including Nestle USA, Ocean Spray, POM Wonderful, Vitasoy and Ken’s Foods on regional, national and international basis. He has held senior level positions for Fortune 50 companies as well as start-up/entrepreneurial ventures which brings just the mix of experience that Sundia needs to build on its strong sales growth momentum.
During his 12 years at Nestle USA, he was the Team Leader for New England as well as managing Publix, Super Valu, Office Supply and the Club Store channel. Mark served as the National Director of Private Label, Export, DSD and Club Stores at Ken’s Foods for four years. He also spent several years at POM Wonderful initially as their Eastern Sales Director before becoming Director of Sales-North America. At POM, Mark had extensive involvement in produce, logistics, co-packing and distribution. Mark also served as General Manager of Ocean Spray’s Fresh Produce initiative and as Director of Sales-Marketing-Logistics at The Currant Company. Most recently, Mark was the Director of North American Sales for Vitasoy.
He attended Providence College, earning a bachelor’s degree in Finance and was a Varsity member of the NCAA Division I Hockey team. He also completed his MBA at Rivier College.
James Kairos, Vice President of Manufacturing
Kairos brought to Sundia more than a decade of experience that spanned virtually all aspects of food manufacturing and distribution, including sourcing, production, packaging, marketing, sales, and logistics, as well as team building and leadership, technology implementation, and operations administration.
Prior to Sundia, Kairos managed the financial performance and policy compliance of Odwalla, Inc.’s sales and distribution organization. He managed profit & loss, ROI evaluations, management and approval of all capital spending, drafting and implementing all new policy complying with Sarbanes Oxley legislation, management and execution of third party contracts, and management of special projects. It was the culmination of a tenure during which he played a key strategic and tactical contributor in efforts that drove 10-fold growth to over $200 million in sales for the Odwalla brand.
Throughout his career, Kairos has had the opportunity to establish a strong network of contacts in small and large supermarket chains nationwide, including Adronico's, Petrini's, Mollie Stone's, Albertsons, Safeway, Market Basket, Stop and Shop, Shaws, Big Y, Whole Foods, and Hannaford Bros.
Kairos earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Bradford S. Oberwager,
Founder and Chairman.
Brad Oberwager has been leading consumer products companies since 1997.
Prior to founding Sundia Corporation in 2004, Oberwager served as CEO of OpenWebs, a SoftBank Company, until the company was sold to CarParts Technologies. Oberwager came to OpenWebs through SoftBank Venture Capital where he was an Entrepreneur-in-Residence assisting in the formation of start-ups while also building on his knowledge in “start-up” how-to’s.
Previously, he served as chief operating officer of more.com, a company he founded and which brought pharmacies and drugstores online until its acquisition. Before that, Oberwager was CEO and founder of Acumins, a patent recipient for new manufacturing and marketing techniques in the nutritional supplement field; Acumins was bought by Drugstore.com.
Brad holds an MBA in Strategic & Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School and a degree in finance from Georgetown University.
