Sundia Corporation Goes International, Expands Distribution of Watermelon Juice Line into Canada and Hong Kong
SAN FRANCISCO - Sept. 11, 2006 - Sundia Corporation, maker of watermelon juice and marketer of fresh watermelons, today announced that it has expanded distribution into Hong Kong and Canada. Sundia watermelon juices are now exclusively available at CitySuper Stores in Hong Kong, while nearly hundreds of retail chain stores will be selling the juices in Canada by month’s end.
“Watermelon juice is extremely popular throughout Asia,” said Brad Oberwager, CEO of Sundia Corporation. Oberwager said that CitySuper stores in Hong Kong are the ideal purveyors for the juice in Hong Kong. “The stores are designed for busy urban professionals who want to enhance the quality of their lives.”
High Hopes for Canada
Nine in ten Canadians say they try to make healthy eating decisions, according to a 2003 study by Ipsos-Reid. And according to Canada’s National Institute of Nutrition, Canadians’ top health concerns are heart/circulatory diseases and cancer -- both of which may be prevented with diets rich in antioxidants.
Naturally loaded with antioxidants -- vitamins A, B6, C, and lycopene -- Sundia’s watermelon juices are made with 100% juice and contain no added sugar or preservatives. Scientific research suggests that lycopene helps fight off various cancers, heart disease, and macular degeneration. Sundia juices are also a good source of potassium,
“Sundia’s combination of taste and health benefits are already proving popular with buyers in Canada,” said Geoff Acheson, president of Diversified Brands of Ontario and the exclusive marketing and distribution arm of Sundia Corporation in Canada.
According to Acheson, the following retailers are expected to have Sundia watermelon juices on their shelves this month: Sobey’s Western Canada, HY Louie IGA, Whole Foods, Highland Farms, Thrifty’s, and Country Grocer. In Toronto, the juices will be available at A&P, Dominion, and The Barn stores.
